Begin your journey to a healthy heart—know and manage your risk of heart disease
Boston Heart’s approach to heart disease risk stratification and treatment optimization is different than any other laboratory.
Boston Heart (BH) has developed a unique set of specialized blood tests broken into four categories—lipids, inflammation, metabolics, genetics—that help you better understand your heart disease or risk of disease. Within these four categories we have five tests exclusive to Boston Heart designed to uncover specific and important information about your heart health — Boston Heart HDL Map®, Boston Heart Cholesterol Balance®, Boston Heart Prediabetes Assessment®, Boston Heart Statin Induced Myopathy (SLCO1B1) Genotype, and Boston Heart Fatty Acid Balance™.
These special tests help you and your healthcare provider better understand your heart health, best medication options, and overall disease risk factors. With these diagnostic insights, your provider can create a targeted therapy and lifestyle plan that will best help you achieve your heart health goals.
The Boston Heart Lifestyle Program combines your blood test results and personal preferences for food and exercise to create a fully customized nutrition and activity plan just for you.

Knowing your risk for heart disease is the first step in maintaining a healthy heart
• Despite advances in treatment, heart disease still claims one out of every three deaths in the United States. At Boston Heart, all we do, every day, is work to reduce heart disease—by providing the information and tools needed to better assess heart disease risk—and to improve heart health.
• The best strategy to prevent and manage heart disease is to understand your risk and embrace a heart healthy lifestyle. Traditionally, healthcare providers focused on a patient’s cholesterol levels as the primary indicator of risk. However, knowing your cholesterol levels is not enough.
• Boston Heart’s research and science has advanced technology which goes far beyond standard cholesterol screening to accurately determine your individual risk of heart disease.

What you need to know about cardiovascular disease
Cardiovascular disease is a group of medical conditions related to the heart or blood vessels. Hypertension (high blood pressure) and atherosclerosis (build-up of fatty deposits in blood vessels) are two familiar types of cardiovascular disease. Some people, including healthcare providers, refer to cardiovascular disease as “heart disease,” although it can affect more than your heart.
Cardiovascular disease can lead to more serious conditions, such as a heart attack or stroke. These “cardiovascular events” can result in permanent disability or even death.
